anger crucified, love arose

“The Bible in 50 Words”

God made
Adam bit
Noah arked
Joseph ruled
Jacob fooled
Bush talked [the shrub not the president!]
Moses balked
Pharoah plagued
People walked
Sea divided
Tablets guided
Promise landed
Saul freaked
David peeked
Prophets warned
Jesus born
God walked
Love talked
Anger crucified
Hope died
Love rose
Spirit flamed
Word spread
God remained.

I love the New Testament part especially. “God remained” — that’s cool… a simple yet strong sense of God being the last word, the word that upholds all our other words, all our thinking, our very existence. And, yeah, it was anger that crucified Jesus. It was human violence, not God’s will. God did not kill him to raise him; God raised him to show us that our human violence is not the last word. The Word is the last word! :-)

Reminds me of Michael Card’s song “Love Crucified Arose.”

[I got this from River of Life MCC’s October 2006 newsletter, but it’s probably floating around the ‘net.]
