Job Opening: Director w/ a teaching load but classified as an administrator

Another job listing off the wcenter listserv.  This is the first one I’ve seen where the director has a teaching load but is classified as an administrator (though I may find that this setup is common).

Instructor, Writing Center – Watauga Campus
This position is contingent upon funding.

Directs the day-to-day management and coordination of the Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute – Watauga Campus Writing Center including the hiring, training, and scheduling of writing consultants, maintenance of administrative records and reports, and the facilitation of individual and group writing consultations.  This position is a forty (40) hour per week administrative position with a teaching load of 5-10 contact hours each fall and spring.

Writing center experience required; experience teaching at a community college and online writing center experience preferred.

Master’s degree in composition and rhetoric or related discipline from an accredited college or university with additional coursework in composition and rhetoric.

Length of contract
12 months

Salary will be based upon institutional salary plan.  Excellent benefits.
